SOCAR Polymer

SOCAR Polymer is a joint venture between SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) and major industrial players in Azerbaijan: Pasha Holding, Azersun Holding and Gilan Holding. SOCAR is fully government owned international vertically integrated oil and gas major with an annual revenue of around 40 bn USD.SOCAR Polymer, the project of international standing, is the first of its kind and scale in the petrochemical industry, implemented in Azerbaijan over the past 40 years. SOCAR Polymer was created on July 16, 2013. The plants of the company are being built on the site of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park created on the basis of the Order of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park

The Sumgayit Polypropylene plant will be the first of its kind to be realized in Azerbaijan, enabling the country to grow its petrochemical industry entering the production of this segment of plastics market. Polypropylene is a basic product used for several consumer goods in a wide variety of applications, such as packaging, textiles, stationery, automotive components, electronic and electrical appliances, and several other uses.Plant is located within SCIP (Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park), which supports innovative industrial initiatives in Azerbaijan via extensive tax exemptions, full infrastructure support and single window approach on all permitting issues.

EPC contractor

EPC contractor – an Italian engineering company Tecnimont, was attracted to execute the project.Another leading engineering company, Fluor, was attracted as a PMC to monitor the work of the EPC contractor. An integrated project management team was created together with Fluor. A team, consisting of specialists of Fluor and SOCAR Polymer human resources, is working on every engineering discipline. In this way, Azerbaijani specialists enjoy a chance to increase their knowledge in practice.
