Gilan Olives produces both prepared olives and olive oil. Olives are acknowledged as an essential component of the Mediterranean diet. Containing vitamins A and B6, fibre, and monounsaturated fats, olives have achieved immense popularity, becoming synonymous with nutritional value. The Turkish olive industry has been established for centuries, and naturally the temperate climate of Azerbaijan is ideal for grove propagation.
Established in 2005, the company's olive groves cover a 93.9ha site in the Absheron region holding 18,000 olive trees. The region has a tradition of olive-growing dating back 60 years to the establishment of the Zig Olive Planting Farm of Absheron. Azerbaijani olive farming has grown exponentially since 2005 – olive production is now at its highest level since the 1950s.
Gilan also focuses on olive oil production, extracted from olives grown at its 5.3ha grove on the Zabrat II settlement. The site has a state-of-the-art filtration line produced and installed by Italy-based industry specialist, TMC Padovan. The plant processes 500kg of olives per hour. Since operations began in 2008, all products have been subjected to independent analysis, are compliant with international standards, and meet the required certification.
