The primary duties of SOCAR’s Social Development Department are to meet the human needs of petroleum industry workers, improve the facilities of the company's enterprises and organizations, make efficient use of existing material resources, and implement a consistent policy in this field.The Department was established in February, 2006 in accordance with the new structure of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 22, 2005. At present, the Department's housing stock, dormitories, hospitals, regional treatment and diagnostic centers, fitness centers, preschools, recreation centers, recreation areas, and other facilities are serving petroleum industry workers and their families.
The Department is responsible for building facilities assigned to SOCAR and residential, public, and educational facilities in accordance with the "National Socioeconomic Development Program for Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and the "Program for Expediting the Socioeconomic Development of Baku and Its Districts, Villages, and Towns".The treatment and diagnostic centers and hospitals constructed under the auspices of the within the "National Socioeconomic Development Program for Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan" are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and are staffed with high class medical professionals to provide services that meet today's requirements.
The Department's Construction, "Neftsenayekhidmet", Residential and Public Services, Health, Pre-School, Recreation Center and "Neftchi" Health and Sport Center Divisions provide services under its direction.
