About Gobustan District Court

Gobustan District Court hears cases related to civil, criminal, administrative offenses and other cases within the territory of Gobustan district as a court of first instance.Gobustan district is one of the new administrative territorial units founded under the decision of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1990. Its administrative center is Gobustan city. Gobustan district is one of the administrative districts of the historical province of Azerbaijan called Shirvan.

Establishment of the Court

Gobustan District Court started functioning in October 1990 as Gobustan District People’s Court under the auspices of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan SSR based on a decision dated 24 April 1990 issued by the Supreme Council of USSR (presently Gobustan District Court).The total area of the district is 1.37 thousand km², and it has a population of 41.448 (14 June 2011). There are 178 refugee and IDP families – 471 people settled in Gobustan district as a result of the aggressive policy of Armenian occupiers. The district shares borders with Shamakhi, Khizi, Absheron and Hajigabul districts.
