Taking into consideration the provisions of the UN Convention “Against Transnational Organized Crime”, signed on December 12, 2000 and ratified by the Law of Azerbaijan Republic on May 13, 2003 and its supplementary protocol about “Prevention, Elimination and Punishment of Human, especially Women and Children Traffick”, as well as, Brussels Declaration “On Prevention and Struggle against Human Traffick it”, adopted on September 20, 2002, “National Action Plan on Struggle against Human Trafficking in Azerbaijan Republic” was affirmed in Azerbaijan Republic, by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Republic, dated on May 6, 2004.
According to the National Action Plan, the deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, police major general Vilayat Eyvazov was appointed the National Coordinator - the responsible official on execution of National Action Plan on Struggle against Human Trafficking, by the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, dated on 19.05.2004, and “the Department on Struggle against Trafficking in Human Beings”. Implementation of National Action Plan on Struggle against Human Trafficking dated on May 6, 2004 has finished, as prolongation of execution of measures on struggle against human trafficking area “National Action Plan on Struggle against Human Trafficking in Azerbaijan Republic (2009-2013)” was confirmed by the Decree dated on February 6, 2009 of President of Azerbaijan Republic.
