Baku Steel Casting

Starting with the day of its foundation “BAKU STEEL CONSTRUCTION” Public Corporation has been specializing in production of cast parts for the equipment of oil machine building run mainly under high pressure, as well as for machines and mechanisms operated in other industries.Now the Company is producing goods made of different steel grades as per GOST 977-88, which weigh from 5 to 5000 kilograms and are shape-cast at different degrees of shape complexity ranging from I to IV. Alongside with this activity the Company has mastered iron casting of compound elements, which are used in parks and different landmarks as metal decoration, for example, at lampposts. While making iron decoration items the preference is given to national patterns and local colour.

Production premises of Baku Steel Construction

Production premises of Baku Steel Construction Public Corporation consist of two major workshops: Electric Steelmaking and Shaped Casting. The Electric Steelmaking Shop comprises, in its turn, the following sites: scrapyard, melting, refractory material, refining station, billet continuous casting and billet final processing. Steel billets cast at a 2-strand Continuous Casting Machine are made with section sizes based on the Customers’ requirements: 80x80, 100x100, 120x120, and 140x140 mm. As to the Shaped Casting Shop, its sites are: modeling, molding, and final and thermal processing.

Now the Company is producing goods made of different steel grades as per GOST 977-88, which weigh from 5 to 500 kilograms and are shape-cast at different degrees of shape complexity ranging from I to IV. It is also possible to shape-cast alloy and high-alloy steel here, if required. Alongside with this activity the Company has mastered iron casting of compound elements, which are used in parks and different landmarks as metal decoration, for example, at lampposts. While making iron decoration items the preference is given to national patterns and local colour.

Production capacity of the company

The Company’s production capacity is 100 thousand tons per year. Due to increase of demand in steel goods at both local and foreign marketsBaku Steel Construction Public Corporation has started work on major and promising modification of production capacities. New and upgrade projects, which are at their implementation step at the moment, will increase the annual output up to 250 thousand tons of metal.

This will certainly be an important step towards realization of an essential goal set by the Government of Azerbaijan: opening of new jobs in the country. There are about 800 people working for the Company now but their number is supposed to go up by 120 in the nearest future.The Company provides a non-stop control on the product quality. To meet the acknowledged quality standard requirements of the goods produced, German equipment is installed and a new system of quality control is introduced. About production

Technological process starts from charge (raw material) processing and composing. The charge fed into the Furnace is melted and tapped into Ladle at high temperature. The liquid steel is “killed” in the Ladle, and then its chemical composition is regulated to the set level and subsequently is transferred to the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM). Here the liquid steel from Tundish is cast in three strands being crystallized into square billets.
