Baku International School (BIS) was established by Quality Schools International (QSI) in 1994 as a private, non-profit educational institution that offers a high-quality Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, and Secondary program leading to graduation. All teachers and the school administration subscribe to a “Success for all” commitment in working with students and cherish its positive learning environment. The school is renowned for its “family-feel,” success in inspiring good behavior, and strong academic standards. Baku International School moved into its present facility during the summer of 2004. The school is conveniently located near the Ganjlik district of Baku. The building was originally constructed in 1987 by the Soviet Builders Association as the logistics center of a concrete and steel works. For this reason, it is built over a bomb shelter and easily passes seismic testing against earthquake hazard. The building and its grounds underwent extensive renovation to meet up-to-date safety and security code standards that includes a high wall around the premises, security-screening entry facility and camera surveillance system. Each class enjoys the use of the following facilities: large entryway, cafeteria with industrial kitchen, indoor central courtyard gym, 400-seat auditorium, padded play room, Early Childhood center, music room, computer laboratory, Intensive English room, faculty work room, sick-bay and offices for counselor, secretary, accounting, Director of Instruction, and Director. Every precaution has been taken to assure that the playground equipment is safe and sound.
