Baku City Khazar District Court hears cases related to civil, criminal, administrative offenses and other cases within the territory of Baku city Khazar district as a court of first instance.
Baku city’s Khazar district is located in the north-east of Absheron peninsula of Azerbaijan and is part of Baku economic zone. It is one of the 11 administrative districts of Baku. Khazar district was created in 1960. There are 12 settlements in the district and they are represented by 12 territorial administrations and 10 municipalities. There are 11 tourism objects, 2 vocational schools, and 2 higher educational institutions, and the Police Academy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Aviation Academy are located in the district.
Until 11 May 2010, the district carried the name of a Bolshevik revolutionary of Azerbaijan, Mashadi Azizbeyov, who acted in the early 20th century. The district has the largest commercial, sports and tourism centers. The total area of the district is 403.6 sq km and its water area is 384 thousand kv.m. It has a population of 124.818 (January 2008). There are up to 15.000 IDPs and refugees settled in about 60 boarding houses, sanatoriums and children’s camps, as well as summer houses in the district as a result of the aggressive policy of Armenian occupiers.
